My name is Alexandria, Ally for short. Growing up, I had two mothers, because of this I was bullied pretty relentlessly...being a heavier kid didn't help either. I kept to myself because of this, well into my teen years, I would just sit alone, draw and daydream. I spent most of my time with my many pets, as animals have always been a huge part of my life. Today, I work full time as a manager for an adult foster care home for the mentally ill.
I have a dog named charlie, a rescue. In my free time I sculpt, illustrate, paint and do makeup (sfx, beauty, body paint). I have always had a love for drawing since childhood but when I found makeup, my life changed. I finally felt like I fit in somewhere and found what I need to do with my life. I began special effects makeup and body painting around three years ago as a means to escape an abusive relationship. The hours doing makeup felt like an escape to me, much like a good movie. My first look I ever did was a (horrible) skull on my own face, I remember feeling so proud of it. From there, I did a new makeup look nearly every night. I have spent countless nights after a 13 hour shift, staying up late and perfecting my passion.I watched countless tutorials and followed countless inspiring artists. I have always loved movies and television, mainly the makeup aspect, so I vowed that I would get there someday. My goal is to make iconic characters that end up being treasured cult classics and adored by millions. I have never had the most confidence in life, because of this, I had refrained from entering this contest (and many others), for fear of not being good enough. I finally took the plunge and did it this year!
